An Irish sweet shop owner has launched a lucky bag competition.
A quick-thinking Irish businessman has launched a Willy Wonka-style competition by putting a golden ticket for a football final inside one of its paper bags. Enda Heneghan, who owns Auntie Nellie's traditional sweet shop in Co Donegal, has hidden tickets to the All-Ireland final inside one of the lucky bags, the Sun reports. Already the reaction to the idea has been extremely positive, with football fans keen to get their hands on seats for Donegal versus Mayo. The Letterkenny shop owner claims that people are coming in off the streets in the hope of winning the lucky bag and that much-coveted pair of golden tickets. Speaking to the newspaper, the shrewd businessman said: "We thought that if we put the actual ticket in then people would be able to feel it on the outside of the bag. "It's just a small piece of paper telling the lucky winner they will be going to Croke Park to watch Donegal play Mayo in the final." Mr Heneghan added: "The reaction has been great already, It's hard to believe how sought-after the tickets are. I know how Willy Wonka felt now!" While the deal is certainly being good for business, he refused to admit how many lucky printed paper bags he had in total, just in case some plucky fan decides to snap up the lot in order to guarantee themselves a ticket. However, with just over 14,000 tickets being officially allocated to Donegal supporters, it's predicted that thousands could be looking for a way to find tickets for this exciting match. While the shop's customers will be largely wanting to support Co Donegal, Mr Heneghan admitted that he was unsure who he would be rooting for, as he actually originates from Co Mayo. "Just please don't ask me who I will be supporting on the day," he joked. |
